Dementia Care Home
At Beneva Care, we understand how dementia affects not only the person diagnosed but also their family and friends. Our dementia care is rooted in kindness and compassion, giving residents the very best support to live as comfortably and independently as possible. Our warm, welcoming homes offer the daily structure, respect and familiarity that help people living with dementia feel safe, settled and part of a community.
Specialist support for people living with dementia
Dementia typically affects memory, mood, language, behaviour and daily routines in sometimes unpredictable ways. That’s why it’s so important to choose the right care home.
At Beneva Care, we offer truly personalised care at our four homes, based on each resident’s diagnosis, symptoms, preferences and interests.
Every resident undergoes a thorough assessment of their needs, medical history and wishes, including input from their family members. From there, we build a personalised care plan that meets their medical needs, gently supports their daily routines, honours who they are, and helps them feel safe.

“Choosing a care home is something I had never thought of however the loss of Mum’s husband and dementia setting in, realisation was that she couldn’t live by herself. (The) responsibility of finding somewhere that would care for Mum felt such a huge decision. I called Woodlands, and they were immediately wonderful, putting any worries at ease and understanding the healing process Mum would need. Mum has been a resident for four months and they care for her diabetic requirements. Mum feels safe and happy and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.”

Our registered nurses work hand in hand with carers, local GPs and other care professionals to manage medications, support healthcare plans and monitor conditions.

Nutritious Dining
Good nutrition plays a vital role in helping people with dementia maintain strength, mood and overall wellbeing. All of our homes provide nutritious meals with plenty of choice and flexibility. Where possible, we encourage residents to make their own food choices and remain as independent as they can. Snacks, drinks and familiar favourites are always available.
Changes in appetite, taste or swallowing ability are common as dementia progresses, so our team are on hand to provide gentle support, whether that’s assisting with eating or simply providing company at mealtimes.

Frequently asked questions about our dementia care
What are dementia care homes?
A dementia care home is a live-in residence that supports people with memory loss, confusion, or behavioural changes caused by dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease and Vascular Dementia. At Beneva Care, we welcome older people and younger adults with a wide variety of care needs, including dementia.
What’s the difference between nursing, dementia and residential care homes?
Residential care is for people who need support with everyday tasks such as washing, dressing, taking medication, or enjoying regular meals and activities, but don’t require nursing. It provides a safe, supportive environment with 24-hour assistance, but without the need for full nursing care. All of our homes offer high-quality residential care, helping residents to maintain independence while enjoying comfort, companionship, and peace of mind. All of our homes offer residential care.
Nursing care includes everything that residential care provides, with the added support of qualified nurses on site, 24 hours a day. This ensures that residents with more complex health needs receive professional medical support, such as administering medication, monitoring ongoing conditions, and providing specialist care. At Beneva Care, nursing care is available at Solent Cliffs and Beechwood House.
Dementia care can be provided in both residential and nursing settings, offering tailored support for people living with dementia — from early-stage memory loss to more advanced symptoms. Our teams are trained to understand the challenges of dementia and to provide compassionate, person-centred care in safe and supportive environments. All of our care homes offer dementia care.
If you are unsure which type of care is right for you or a loved one, please feel free to contact us for advice and read more about choosing care.
When should I consider a dementia care home for a loved one?
You might start considering a care home when your loved one can no longer live independently, is struggling with daily tasks, or is unsafe at home. Some seek care after a hospital stay or during a family crisis. Others plan ahead after a dementia diagnosis. Beneva Care is here whenever you’re ready to talk.
Do you accept people in early-stage dementia?
Yes, we do. Many families choose to move into care early so their loved one can settle in while they’re still able to make choices and form bonds with carers. Early support can also help manage dementia symptoms and reduce stress over time.
Still have questions? Feel free to reach out to us, and one of our expert care staff will be in touch.
What Our Residents and Families Say
I would just like to thank every single member of staff that cared for my father while he was in your care.Dad had dementia and some of the things he got up to were extremely challenging for the staff but they handled it with professionalism and with humour. I can’t thank all the staff for what they did and the time they dedicated to him, from management, nursing staff, care staff cleaning or laundry staff, you are all wonderful people.

Since mum has been residing at Solent Cliffs back in Oct 2019, I have nothing but praise for all the team. (Managers, nurses, carers and staff). All are an extremely friendly hardworking team and have gone above and beyond to ensure that Mum is safe and cared for with compassion and empathy. The care that my mum has received, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic and in extremely difficult circumstances, I cannot thank the staff enough. I would, therefore, recommend Solent Cliffs to anyone who was thinking of a safe, friendly, happy, communicative environment for their loved ones.

Mum joined Cross Way House just a few weeks before covid shutdown so this experience could have been disturbing for her. However, the genuine kindness, compassion and professional care have kept hers and our spirits up. The staff have kept us up to date on mum’s welfare and made it possible for me to wave to her each morning through a window. They have kept Cross Way covid free.

My mother was in the care of Beechwood House for 3 years. During this time she was treated with kindness respect and dignity by all of the staff at Beechwood. The facilities are very good, food at an excellent standard and rooms and premises are kept clean to a high standard. Mum always enjoyed the activities and entertainment especially the singing and dancing. A lovely home to spend time in.
