1. The decision to enter care
The decision to move into a care home can be a difficult one, involving lots of conversations and reflections with family. Whether you’re considering residential or specialist nursing care, Beneva Care is here to help make that choice easier.
Our Registered Managers each have a wealth of experience and will guide you through the process from start to finish, addressing any concerns you may have. We invite you to view our homes online and in person to find the one that best suits the needs of your loved one.

2. What type of care home is best for your needs?
If you’re beginning to explore care options, it can feel overwhelming to understand what’s right for you or your loved one. You might be wondering what the differences are between types of care homes and which option best suits your family’s needs. At Beneva Care, we’re here to explain things clearly so you can make an informed decision with confidence and peace of mind.
Residential Care
Residential homes provide 24/7 care in a warm and supportive environment. While there are no trained nurses on-site, our experienced Registered Managers and compassionate care teams are highly qualified and committed to meeting the needs of every resident. Where additional specialist training is required, our team ensures that residents receive tailored and thoughtful support.
Our residential care homes: Cross Way House, Woodland Care Home
Nursing Care
Nursing homes offer all the benefits of residential care with the added reassurance of having Registered Nurses on-site 24/7. For residents with more complex medical needs, nursing care ensures the right clinical support is always available, providing comfort and peace of mind for families.
Our nursing care homes: Beechwood House, Solent Cliffs Nursing Home
Dementia Care
Many of our homes specialise in dementia care, creating safe, calm, and nurturing environments for residents living with memory-related illnesses. For individuals with more complex needs, including challenging behaviours, we ensure compassionate, specialist care tailored to each person’s experience.
All of our care homes can offer dementia care.
Respite Care
Respite care is available in our homes, subject to availability. Whether you or your loved one need a short break, recovery time after an illness, or temporary care, we are here to provide the same level of exceptional care and support for shorter stays. Contact us for further advice and to find out availability in our four homes.
Palliative and End-of-Life Care
We provide sensitive and dignified end-of-life care in all of our homes. Our team is dedicated to ensuring residents are comfortable, free from pain, and surrounded by warmth and compassion during this important time. We also provide support to families, helping them through every step of this journey.
3. Visiting a Beneva Care Home
One of the best ways to decide if a care home feels right is to come and see it for yourself. At Beneva Care, we’d love to welcome you for a visit. You can meet our team, explore the living spaces, and experience the warm, friendly atmosphere that makes our homes special.
We encourage families to take their time, ask as many questions as they like, and get a feel for what life with us is really like. You’ll see the gardens, communal spaces, and rooms, and you’ll have the chance to meet residents and staff along the way.
When you visit, we urge you to come prepared with questions. Our team will be on hand to help you gather all the information you need so you can make your decision with confidence and peace of mind.

4. Pre-Admission
Before new residents join us at Beneva Care, we carry out a pre-admission assessment to ensure we fully understand your individual needs. This is an important step in helping us provide the right level of care and support from day one.
During the assessment, a member of our experienced team meets with new residents – and their families, if they wish – to discuss everything from medical care to daily preferences, routines, and personal interests. It’s about getting to know our new residents and making sure we can deliver care that feels personal, thoughtful, and tailored. From there, we will put together a Personal Care Plan that we will continuously monitor, update and share with family members.

5. Admission day and beyond
Admission day can feel like a big step, but at Beneva Care, we make sure it’s as smooth, welcoming, and comfortable as possible. From the moment you arrive, our team will be there to help you or your loved one settle in, get to know their surroundings, and feel at home.
We’ll introduce you to other residents, show you around the home, and ensure everything is in place to make the transition easy and stress-free. Our team will take care of all the practical details, leaving each newcomer free to relax and start getting to know their new community.
Families are always welcome to spend time with us on admission day, too, offering comfort and reassurance as their loved one begins this next chapter.
